Principal William "Billy" Hinz has served WELS schools for 20 years. He is a 2004 graduate of Martin Luther College (MLC).
Mr. Hinz began his ministry as principal and teacher at Emmanuel-Redeemer in Yale, Michigan teaching grades 5-8. After four years, he accepted a call to Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Jenera, Ohio where he taught grades 7-8 and was principal for five years. In 2013, Mr. Hinz returned to Wisconsin and served as principal and teacher at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School in Fort Atkinson. The 2024-2025 school year is Mr. Hinz's seventh year at St. John's in Pardeeville.
In the past, Mr. Hinz has taught all subjects, but mostly enjoys teaching science and math and sharing God's Word with the students in his classroom and school.
Committed to learning, growth, and professional development, in May 2017, Mr. Hinz earned his master's degree from MLC in Educational Leadership.
Mr. Hinz grew up on a dairy farm in Pickett, Wisconsin and is thankful to have his family's farm-life experience and quality Christian upbringing. During his schooling at Winnebago Lutheran Academy, he participated in activities from music (band, jazz band, and choir) to sports (football & track).
In the summer, Mr. Hinz has been a spiritual leader at Camp Wyalusing, a week-long WELS summer camp held at Wyalusing State Park near Prairie du Chien. He and his wife, Rachael, have been blessed with three children (Cora, Allie, and Conner). Mr. Hinz enjoys running, biking, and a little bit of every sport he attempts to play with his kids and attending their school events including concerts and sporting events. He and his family also enjoy playing games, relaxing to a good movie, or cheering on all Wisconsin sports teams.
